Position Overview

ShapeTX is looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong passion for learning to join the growing Research team as an Associate Scientist, Cell Line Engineering - Core Innovation. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for in vitro cell culture and banking of recombinant and engineered cell lines to support the early research pipeline and ShapeTX’s novel RNAfixTM and RNAskipTM technology platforms. An ideal candidate will have broad cell culture and banking experience and familiarity with gene editing technologies.

What You’ll Do

  • Follow established protocols, analyze and communicate results with supervisor
  • Contribute to experimental design
  • Assist in cell line maintenance, generation and tissue culture
  • Use gene editing techniques (i.e. CRISPR) to generate gene knockouts/knockins and mutations of interest
  • Perform a broad range of cell/molecular biology techniques (e.g. single cell cloning, DNA isolation, RNA isolation, cDNA generation, qPCR, ddPCR, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, imaging etc.)
  • Maintain a detailed electronic laboratory notebook

What you Bring

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or related discipline and 4+ years or M.S. with 2+ years of experience post-degree in an academic or industry laboratory setting.
  • Experience culturing and differentiating primary and iPSC cell lines
  • Skilled in mammalian cell culture, transfection, and good aseptic technique
  • Stable cell line generation via viral transduction (lentivirus/retrovirus) or non-viral methods (piggybac)
  • Cell line banking and cryopreservation
  • qPCR/ddPCR principles and analysis
  • Western blot / ELISA
  • Flow cytometry/cell sorting
  • Ability to troubleshoot and think analytically
  • Strong work ethic
  • A collaborative team player

Compensation & Benefits

ShapeTX offers a robust benefits package, including but not limited to: Medical, Dental and Vision coverage for employees and their eligible dependents. We provide eligible employees with 12 paid Holidays plus a one week winter break at year end. We are proud to offer a competitive paid parental leave benefit, an annual employee stipend for employees to use however they choose, a Flex Paid Time Off program (allowing flexible PTO for vacation, sick leave, and other purposes) and Company paid Long Term Disability. Employees are eligible to enroll in our Company’s voluntary 401k plan, voluntary Life/AD&D and Voluntary FSA’s.

The salary range for this role is $82,000 - $110,000. The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications and professional experience. Additional compensation may include annual target bonus and/or sign-on bonus, equity grant and relocation bonus.
