Farm Operations

At eGenesis, we aspire to deliver safe and effective human transplantable cells, tissue and organs utilizing the latest advancements in genome editing.
We are seeking a reliable member to join the eGenesis Farm Operations team and assist research personnel in all farm activities including operating large equipment, hay production, landscaping, and basic animal care of swine. The right individual will have experience working with large animals, farm equipment, and must be able to perform maintenance on equipment and buildings. Experience with hand tools and power tools is required. This position requires working a rotating weekend and holiday schedule. The right individual must be detail-oriented with strong communication skills and the ability to work as a team and individually. This position requires physical demands such as climbing, stooping, crouching, sitting on equipment such as lawnmowers and tractors for extended periods, and handling/moving swine throughout the facilities.


  • Responsible for operating large farm equipment at the eGenesis - WI facility
  • Operation of skid loaders, tractors, manure management equipment, and hay equipment
  • Activities involving large farm equipment include but are not limited to carcass management/composting, spreading solid and liquid manure, pasture mowing, and unloading deliveries
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and repairs when needed
  • Responsible for landscaping and general grounds upkeep
  • Operation of lawn mower tractor (Zero Turn, AWD), weedwacker, leaf blower, snowplow, and chainsaw
  • Activities include but are not limited to lawn mowing/trimming, tree clearing/pruning, snow plowing (farm roads and sidewalks), and spraying weeds
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and repairs when needed
  • Responsible for basic maintenance of both animal facilities and lab facilities
  • Have knowledge and perform maintenance on swine penning, water systems, HVAC systems, lighting, minor plumbing issues, and minor electrical issues
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules and work closely with all vendors of all equipment and systems
  • Operation of hand tools, power tools, welding machines, oxyacetylene torch
  • Participate in daily care of pigs at the animal facilities
  • Feeding, caring for, and handling swine including a weekend and holiday rotation
  • Cleaning and upkeep of the swine research facilities
  • Provide additional support as needed to other research activities within the company
  • Promote and adhere to safety in workplace
  • Follow safe work practices and enforce health and safety regulations
  • Promote safety awareness
  • Correct unsafe acts and conditions and ensure equipment is properly maintained
  • Report and investigate all accidents/incidents
  • Inspect personal area and take remedial action to minimize or eliminate hazards
  • Complete required training assignments, forms, and other paperwork
  • Adhere to eGenesis biosecurity requirements for the Main Facility and Quarantine Facility
  • Due to the nature of operating a research animal facility, there is potential to be asked to work overtime hours


  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) minimum
  • 1+ years of experience in large animal care and handling
  • 1+ years of experience in facility and equipment maintenance
  • Working knowledge of animal husbandry, including nutrition, reproduction, and safety
  • Basic working knowledge facility maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Basic use of Microsoft office suite of applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Must not have any other interaction with pigs outside of the company
  • CDL driver’s license and welding experience desired but not required
  • Strong attention to operational planning and follow through
  • Working knowledge of data collection and recording
Physical Demands and Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in different environments, including farm, shop, office, laboratory, and animal husbandry environments in varying weather conditions. The employee frequently is required to be walking, stooping, climbing, and crouching. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust to focus.
