Senior Electrical Engineer
Interested in helping to develop and commercialize cutting edge technologies at the intersection of biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, and single cell multiomics? Come join Deepcell and make a difference! Deepcell is an AI-powered platform that analyzes, classifies and isolates label-free, viable cells based on their visual features for use in basic and translational research across the life sciences industry. Deepcell was spun out of Dr. Euan Ashley's lab at Stanford in 2017 and since then we have built multiple prototypes and established several collaborations with industry and academic leaders. Results have been presented at conferences such as ASCB, AGBT and AACR among others and we are backed by top-tier venture capitalists in Silicon Valley including Andreessen Horowitz, KDT, Casdin, Bow Capital.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will lead electrical design of cutting edge instrumentation products. You will
support the existing generation of instrument and help transition it to production. In parallel, you will begin
working on the next-generation design, starting from an R&D concept, and designing the architecture of the
system. Then you’ll take that design, implement it and again take it through to production and hand off to a
contract manufacturer. This includes design of electronic boards and subsystems of lab instrumentation. You
will handle tasks requiring precise timing and communication with the host computer, and general analog and
digital I/O. You will analyze system requirements and propose and design the electrical architecture. In
addition, a successful candidate will select and interface with vendors to qualify electronic components to be
included in the instrument, as well as select and manage PCBA manufacturers and establish incoming
inspection practices. As part of the role, you will additionally establish SOPs for assembly and testing of the
electronic subassemblies. You will be hands-on in the lab bringing up and calibrating complex electrical and
mechanical sensors, controlling motor assemblies, and fluidics pumps, valves, and flow meters. Finally, you
will troubleshoot electrical issues observed in the systems.
