Position Summary:

Boundless Bio (BBI), Inc. (Nasdaq:BOLD) is a San Diego-based, clinical-stage, oncology company interrogating an exciting new area of cancer biology, extrachromosomal DNA (“ecDNA”), to revolutionize the way cancer is treated. We are seeking a highly motivated Associate General Counsel to play a significant role in helping us transform exciting ecDNA discoveries into the next generation of cancer medicines.

Reporting to our Chief Legal Officer, the Associate General Counsel will be responsible for providing practical, timely, strategic, and high-quality legal advice across a breadth of complex legal matters relating to Boundless Bio’s business activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serving as a strategic legal partner to the Company’s leaders and their teams by providing timely, proactive, strategic, best-in-class legal advice and support
  • Proactively support operational functions within the Company, including Business Development, Research & Development, Clinical, CMC, Project Management, Precision Medicine, and G&A.
  • Strategically drafting, negotiating, and timely consummating a broad range of complex contracts, both operational and strategic, including research collaborations and alliances, sponsored research, material transfers, research licenses, consulting services, research services, CRO services, clinical contracting, data sharing and data licensing, regulatory and quality agreements, manufacturing and development agreements, license agreements, professional services agreements, confidentiality agreements, and other vendor agreements.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and keeping current on relevant legal developments affecting the biotech industry. Providing updates to senior leaders and business clients on changes in legal developments affecting the industry.
  • Working with outside counsel, ensuring efficient and effective use of outside counsel.
  • As may be directed by the Chief Legal Officer, providing legal support for other initiatives including support for public company reporting, stock plan oversight, privacy programs and other compliance initiatives, etc.
  • Working collaboratively with a broad range of people and functions throughout the organization to develop and maintain strong working relationships across all functional areas.

Education/Experience:

  • JD degree with professional experience in a large law firm and/or biotech in-house experience in contracting; public company experience helpful, but not required.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience either in a law firm or in house or a combination of both.
  • Solid experience and knowledge of best practices relating to providing a broad range of legal support in a corporate environment.
  • Understanding of the legal issues affecting the biotech industry, with a particular focus on early-stage research and innovation, research collaborations, licensing as well as regulatory processes, and clinical development (desired, but not required).
  • Strong ability to grasp legal issues quickly, exhibit strong analytical problem solving and decision- making skills, exercise sound judgment, confidence to work independently, and provide practical and constructive legal advice in a time-sensitive fast-paced environment.
  • Solid negotiation and communication skills (both oral and written). Ability to communicate legal issues in a clear and understandable manner. Strong work ethic and ability to produce high quality work under tight deadlines. Solution-oriented approach.
  • Team player with demonstrable ability to build relationships both internally and externally.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and strategic.
  • A strong commitment to integrity and professionalism and demonstrated passion for excellence. Operates with transparency.

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $250,000 to $335,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. In addition to base salary, BBI employees are eligible for an annual bonus incentive, and an equity stock option grant.
