Position Summary: As a Research Associate at Boundless Bio, you will play a significant role in helping us transform exciting extrachromosomal DNA (ecDNA) discoveries into cancer medicines of the future. You will contribute to the process of developing robust, miniaturized high-throughput assays designed to enable drug discovery programs supporting multiple ecDNA-directed targets. This will involve broad application of biochemical and cellular assays across a range of formats to enable screening and SAR campaigns in support of our drug pipeline. These efforts will make an important contribution to the Boundless Bio drive for innovation in targeting difficult to treat cancers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform novel cell-based and biochemical assay and convert to miniaturized 384-well format; perform their automation and implementation on available automation instrument systems
  • Conduct standard assay development and optimization activities, determination of Z-factor, and other assay parameters
  • Perform mammalian cell culture and handle multiple cell lines simultaneously
  • Conduct SAR assays to support drug discovery projects
  • Perform experiments and procedures requiring specific scientific or technical knowledge and laboratory techniques
  • Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory/scientific equipment including a range of liquid handlers, dispensers and multi-well plate readers
  • Use manufacturer's manuals and apply it practically
  • Recognize technical problems and provide input on solutions
  • Accurately document experiments in lab notebook/ELN (including tables, graphs, etc.)
  • Complete thorough data analysis and conversion of data into presentable format
  • May present results in team meetings with interpretation of results and evaluation of data
  • May contribute methods section/data to reports
  • Perform all duties keeping with the Company's core values, policies, and all applicable regulations

Education/Experience:

  • BS/MS in biology related field with minimum 1 year of relevant laboratory experience
  • Previous experience in biochemical and cell-based assay development, miniaturization and optimization strongly preferred but not required
  • Familiarity in traditional HTS assay detection methods including luminescence, FP, TR-FRET, Alphascreen/Alphahalisa, and high-content microscopy/in-cell westerns
  • Knowledge in Graphpad and Dotmatics for data processing and analysis and experience in liquid handling systems, desired but required
  • Prior experience in cell-based laboratory methods and data analysis strongly preferred
  • The ability to learn new techniques effectively and exercise independent judgement is required
  • The ability to work independently, and simultaneously handle multiple projects in a rapidly changing, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated success working in a collaborative team environment and willingness to learn and implement novel techniques and strategies

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. In addition to base salary, Boundless Bio employees are eligible for an annual bonus incentive and an equity stock option grant.
