As a Research Associate, you will leverage your expertise in molecular biology and genomics to help us revolutionize the biotech industry by providing high-throughput DNA sequencing support. This position is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative environment. The Research Associate will join the Sequencing Development team and support innovative research that advances Absci’s proprietary Drug Creation PlatformTM. The Sequencing team is integral to the success of most projects at Absci, and this role will involve delivering NGS results for library screens and strain construction in a high-throughput, fast-paced environment. This position will require the ability to work a weekend shift as needed.


  • Providing core sequencing and analysis activities to support Absci’s innovative research.
  • Responsible for day-to-day library preparation and operation and maintenance of Illumina and PacBio instruments.
  • Mastering new laboratory skills rapidly and will take on additional technical responsibilities outside of the NGS team.
  • Works with guidance to ensure all operations generate high-quality results (e.g. monitoring wet lab QC metrics and sequencing run metrics)
  • Interpret data to make decisions about next steps (with guidance as needed)


  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline
  • 1+ years of research experience in a relevant laboratory setting
  • Experience with operating complex laboratory instrumentation, PCR, NGS technology or similar DNA sequencing platforms
  • Experience with and understanding of primer design

The salary range for this position is $67,725 - 72,000/year. Competitive equity package applies. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
